Copper and Green

This was my...second or fourth? painting for my intro to painting class in the fall of 2007. I can't for the life of me remember whether I did it before or after my blue stars painting, but probably before.

The assignment was basically to paint the copper bowl thing. It was pretty difficult for me to get the reflection right, so my teacher helped with the orange highlights/reflection in the middle section. I did the background all on my own - it's the first instance of the speckled sort of diffused thing that I used in most of my paintings afterward.

One of the critiques about this is that the bowl was an oval shape, but it looks mostly circular, because of the angle I was at, and the way I drew it. I don't think it matter, though, since it did look circular from where I was standing...
